WOULD YOU LIKE TO COMPLETE YOUR NON SCHOOL MAINTENANCE FAMILY SERVICE HOURS BEFORE SEPTEMBER?
  • Precious Blood's Vacation Bible School, High Seas Adventure, is taking place at the Parish Centre from July 18th - 22nd.  Carol Lloyd, the VBS Coordinator, is still in need of volunteers in the following areas: a co-leader for the Faith Station; Group Leaders; and Childminders.  Please contact Carol directly: littlecarol@telus.net, if you would like to sign up!
CURRENT VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES:
  • A team is needed to maintain the school and Parish grounds over the summer break.  There are various time slots available to suit all schedules and being a part of this team would complete mandatory school maintenance hours for next semester.  For more information, or to sign up, please contact maintenance@ccsunited.ca.
IMPORTANT NOTICES:
  • To view the Family Service Program Policy Manual, click here.  You will see some changes to the amount of hours you are required to complete, as well as the Family Service Semester dates.  Please note that these changes come into effect on June 1st for the 2011/12 school year.  The June Work Bee will count as either the final Work Bee for parents who have yet to complete their maintenance hours OR the first Work Bee of the next Semester for families who wish to get a head start on next year's hours.  If you require further clarification please email the Family Service Coordinator at the address above.
  • To view the Volunteer Opportunities Guide, click here.
  • The PEC wishes to remind families that although the 3 School  Maintenance hours per semester are mandatory, attendance at the monthly Work Bees is not.  The Work Bees are simply the most effective way to complete these hours.  Families can fulfill the requirement at one Work Bee instead of having to keep coming back, and the more volunteers we have available at one time, the more we can accomplish - many hands make light work!  However, the School Maintenance Hours Coordinator, Carla Pardetti, keeps a list of maintenance jobs in the school office that can be completed at your convenience. Please remember to email Carla (maintenance@ccsunited.ca) and let her know what you did and how long it took you.
UPCOMING WORK BEE DATES:

Semester 1 - 2011/12 school year:
TBC
Hints and Tips:
  • Please write the full name and grade of the oldest child attending CCS, along with all family names associated with the student, on your form.
  • It is your responsibility to get your forms in on time.  There won't be any personal reminders before cheques are cashed.  Semester 1 runs from June 1st - Dec 8th and Semester 2 runs from Dec 9th - May 31st.
  • Hours completed this term cannot be carried over to next term.
  • Hours must be completed BEFORE forms are handed in.
  • As soon as you've completed your hours, please return your form to the office.  Your cheque will be returned to you as soon as possible.
  • Family members can complete hours on your behalf.
  • If you and your family member volunteer at the same time, it counts as two lots of hours.  For example; if both parents attend a work bee for an hour and a half, that is your three hour school maintenance commitment completed.
  • If you sign up to one of the year long programs, such as PREP or Hot Lunch, you are expected to complete the year.
  • ANY time you spend doing a service for the school or parish can be counted towards your Family Service Program hours.
  • EVERY family is expected to complete six school maintenance hours per year (three per semester).  If you think you should be exempt from this please apply in writing to the PEC no later than April 30th.
